BASIC TAEKWONDO
We’ve trained more than two hundred children and adults in taekwondo since we opened in Bozeman in January, 2004, and we invite you to join that number! We recognize that all students come to class with their own challenges and strengths. We welcome students with physical limitations, less-than-stellar fitness levels, limited athletic experience, and even skepticism about their own abilities. Keep reading to learn more about our different classes. Our taekwondo family looks forward to meeting you!
Tiny Tigers
The ATA’s Tiny Tigers program is an age-appropriate introduction to songahm taekwondo for students between the ages of four and seven years. The program focuses on developing gross motor skills, listening comprehension, physical coordination, personal discipline, and a black belt attitude! When students graduate from the Tiny Tigers at the age of seven or eight, they will be ready to join the “Karate Kids” program and begin their regular taekwondo training. Do you have a “Tiny Tiger” at home? Bring them in to watch a class and see if they don’t want to join us!
Karate Kids”
Karate Kids are between seven and fourteen years of age. The Kids classes focus on developing complex motor skills, coordination, confidence and discipline in our students while giving them a great workout! The ATA’s Life Skills curriculum is central to every class; we use it to teach students virtues such as goal-setting, courtesy, respect, and perseverance while we teach them taekwondo. Of course, we also teach plenty of practical self defense, including the avoidance and management of conflict. If you think your child might benefit from our programs, call us today!
Teens and Adults
Contrary to popular belief, you’re NEVER too old, too stiff, too uncoordinated, or too out of shape to study taekwondo! All that is necessary is a willingness to learn. (In fact, most of our students gained their current levels of flexibility, cardio-vascular fitness and strength by joining taekwondo.) Our oldest student was in her sixties when she first joined us and the ATA even has competition divisions for students who are in their eighties! If you think you’d like to try taekwondo but you’re still apprehensive, please call us; one of our staff members will be glad to speak with you. You’ll be glad you did!
