Escape and Evasion: Workplace Violence
Workplace violence happens in all forms in today's society. From passive assaults that include harassment and intimidation but don’t actually result in physical harm to active assaults that include physical attacks resulting in injury and even workplace shootings which are occurring with more frequency. Both management and employees have the responsibility and ability to stop workplace violence by establishing effective screening and prevention plans as well as providing training to deal with potential acts of violence be them passive or active in nature.
These are day long seminars developed to help companies cope with the very real threat of workplace violence. Based on FBI, OSHA and PPCT Management Systems material this course is a comprehensive look at what is workplace violence, how to prevent it and how to respond if it does occur.
The course covers the following subjects:
· Facts of workplace violence
· Types of workplace violence
· Identify risk factors
· Identify controls for mitigating risk through policy, procedure and training
· Physical effects of stress
· Principals of avoidance
· Counter measures to passive and active assaults including firearm disarming techniques
Stopping a violent incident from ever happening in the first place is the best way to handle them. To do that companies must understand what workplace violence is and then develop and implement policies and procedures to identify and mitigate the causes of both passive and active type assaults.
This course helps to do all of that by first presenting the facts about workplace violence and then helping companies figure out what works and what doesn’t work for policies and procedures to counter workplace violence.
Even the best intentions and plans cannot fully ensure that workplace violence will not occur. It is for that reason that the training offered includes the Escape & Evasion (E&E) course material and certification from PPCT Management Systems. This course material covers effects of stress in life threatening situations, threat identification and avoidance and counter measures for both passive and active assaults.
